![]() Shes Gott It! are delighted to announce our recent appointment to deliver 2 annual Science festivals in 2010 and 2011. The event (Brainwave 10) on behalf of County Durham Development Company, forms part of their plans to ensure NETPark is a focus to build partnerships between the community, education, and business to increase entrepreneurship and innovation in County Durham. Brainwave is a three day event for school children, across County Durham, and the general public, designed to highlight the North East Technology Park (NETPark) as a focus for innovation and technology to showcase the career and learning opportunities available. Brainwave will bring science to life through a range of innovatiove lectures, displays and workshops in order to promote the role of science in enterprise and creativity. Project C aims to embed knowledge about NETPark within the communtiy, raise aspirations and make people aware of the future career options available to them. The project, part of the wider Embedding the Benefits of Innovation project, is led by Durham University and is centred around NETPark, located in Sedgefield, which is managed by County Durham Development Company on behalf of Durham County Council. Funding has also been provided by One North East Single Programme, ERDF and SANYO. Project C is a programme of activities and events during 2010-12 that will communicate and interact with the regional community, whilst heightening awareness of, and excitement for, the ground-breaking work undertaken by companies based at NETPark. In order to maintain its position as one of the fastest growing science parks in the UK, NETPark must continue to attract and retain science, engineering and technology businesses, which rely heavily on the availability of a skilled local workforce. Project C is part of ongoing efforts to ensure the continued development of the skills base within the county. The event will run: Thursday 15th, Friday 16th & Saturday 17th July 2010, it will host a science circus, speed dating careers event and Royal Institution of Great Britains Summer lecture. The Science circus will be run throughout the day by professional scientists and will comprise of short workshops that challenge and inspire children, young people and their families in the locality. The Speed dating will provide opportunities for interactions with representatives from a variety of careers available in science, engineering and technology from business angel to lab technician. The focus will be on what they do, and the career paths which have taken them to their current position. The Royal Institution of Great Britain has previously provided NETPark events along the lines of their famous Christmas Lectures. Just like the Christmas lectures these will be filmed and broadcast on the Institutions website creating profile for NETPark and the North East on a national stage. Shes Gott It! delivered a series of Science Live events at NETPark in 2005/6/7 and are absolutely thrilled to be involved in such an exciting and innovative project.
