This years Edinburgh's Christmas festival will take place from Thursday 25th November 2010 until Tuesday 4th January 2011.

Edinburgh is such a special place at Christmas. The city really comes to life with events, markets and activities that literally make it sparkle throughout the feastive season. This year is going to be a great classic Edinburgh's Christmas with all the usual favourites: the Edinburgh Wheel, the markets, the funfair and of course, the ice rink. The traditional attractions like the German Market and Santa's daily visits will be joined by some new treats this year including outrageous street theatre, new funfair rides, a Real Scottish Christmas Fair and a four day St Andrew's celebration ending with a rousing ceilidh.

As always, Edinburgh is the perfect place to do your Christmas shopping whether in the atmosheric markets or in the city's shops. In 2010 we celebrate 25 years of the gift of our Christmas Tree by the people of Hordaland in Norway, so the focus for Light Night will be once more on the mound. So don't miss a good traditional Edinburgh switch-on and start your Christmas with a bang!
