The Sunderland Christmas Festival 'officially' takes place from Thursday 24th November until Friday 23rd December 2011. This Festival will see various locations across the City celebrate the arrival of Christmas with planned street entertainment, story tellers, a giant storybook, themed Christmas characters hung from various window sills/buildings, a Fairytale Trail around the City (follow Gnu's footsteps to find hidden gems), a 'Snow Fairy' in the Hatkata tent and even live reindeer's in Mowbray Park.

Final week - Sunderland Christmas Festival (Monday 19th - Friday 23rd December)
Timings: 3pm - 8pm

Come to Mowbray Park to visit the magical Christmas Village. Within Mowbray Park in this week there is: the Magic Tree (based at the top end of the park), children's christmas themed rides and food units, christmas light installations (the famous lit up Santa, santa's sleigh and reindeer, penguins, reindeer etc), the 'live' reindeer village, Christmas themed wooden hut installations and the ever magical Hatkata Tent (which houses the 'Snow Fairy' - who will read children christmas themed stories based around the festival and themes). 

When you come to meet the 'Snow Fairy' she will offer children and adults alike to undertake the 'Fairytale Trail' for the low rate of £1.50 per person. Collect the sheet from the Snow Fairy and walk the route, gather the special clues (which are hidden on each character scene) and work out what the hidden word is, return the completed sheet back to the Snow Fairy and she will hand you the special 'Magical Lantern' gift. This gift is for children to 'place within their bedroom window so Santa knows where to find them on Christmas Eve'.
